Lisa asks…
How can I make Halloween costumes for my kids this year?
I’m too poor to spend $20-30 a piece on costumes this year. What are some EASY and CHEAP costume ideas for a boy – 6, and a girl – 4?
Thanks!

There is a fabulous website with all kinds of great costumes that you can make at home!
Here is the website-

& these are some of my favorites off of it-
A Crash test dummy – After! There is a commercial costume for this, but a good one can be made with sweats and tape to make the markings on it like the crash test dummies. Use bandages and fake blood to decorate. Fashion a seat belt out of webbing and an old buckle and pin in place. (or go to a junk yard as ask for an old seatbelt).
Mother Nature
* Silk flowers and silk plant leaves in a variety of shapes and colours an old skirt and vest
* a face mask
* € twigs (collected from your nearby park or in your own backyard) to make a nest
* € a foam bird that you can find at any craft store
* € glue gun and wire
Decorate the vest & skirt with the silk leaves in a random pattern and glue into place. Decorate the skirt with flowers growing out from the leaves already put in place.Use the remaining leaves and small flowers to decorate the face mask. Gather your twigs and secure with wire to make a nest. Place your bird on the twigs and secure into place with the wire. You can add some leaves and peat moss as a filler. The child can wear a dark coloured turtleneck and leggings under the vest and skirt for the evening walk to get treats.
( this one sounds like it might cost a little, but you can usually find bags of flower petals for a $1 at joanns or Michales, they are usually used for runners at weddings)
I wish you the best!

I have 3 young kids – suggestions on related Halloween costumes??
I have an almost 4 year old son, an almost 2 year old daughter, and a 4 month old son. I have a thing about my kids‘ Halloween costumes coordinating (i.e. last year, my oldest 2 were an angel and a devil). Any suggestions for the 3 of them – my lil man threw a curveball at me and so I’m struggling to come up with something for all 3. Also, I live in Ohio so Halloween time gets a little nippy outside so no super duper skimpy costumes are possible either! Any suggestions are appreciated – thanks!

Last Thursday (10/19/06), I went to http://www.toysrus.com and bought three costumes (Spiderman, Jack-Jack from “The Incredibles” and a Go-Go dancer) and it was less than $25 including shipping. I received one yesterday and the other two were shipped out today.
Good luck!
